Theresa Breslin is an award-winning Scottish author. Before she became a writer she was a librarian, working in a mobile library. Some of her most famous books include Remembrance, Death or Glory Boys, Saskia's Journey, Medici Seal, Divided City and Whispers in the Graveyard (all of which are in the Library).

Remembrance

This book is set in world war one. This book is set around 5 Teens called ALEX who is the younger brother of JOHN-MALCOM and MAGGIE, the twins, and CHARLOTTE and FRANCIS, the rich brother and sister of the villiage.Their views on the war are each very different.
ALEX
Alex is below the official recruiting age but is determined to get away to France and do his bit for his country.
'I way be too young, but I am going to enlist. And I will get away with it'
JOHN MALCOM
John Malcom anxiously waiting for his eighteenth birthday to go and join his friends in France.
It's up to us now. I can't wait to get to the Front and be with my friends.I hope it's not all over before I get there.
MAGGIE
Maggie believes in the fact that women are as good as men at work. She gets work at a factory and soon realises the manual work involed.
There are opportunities for women now, and I mean to take them.I am set to determine my own course in life
CHARALOTTE
15 year old Charlotte begins work at a local hospital despite her mother wishing her not to. She believes that she is doing her bit by doing this.
I’m not trying to look respectable , I’m trying to be useful. I intend to volunteer for work in France.
FRANCIS
Fancis only sees tragedy a head. He is scared of war and dying. He completely disagrees with war.
I am afraid of death, what frightens me more is the death of spirit , that I have so quickly become accustomed to the sights and sounds of war.
This book is a heart wrenching book that no one won't cry at.
